The Electra Police Department will soon be on its way to being fully staffed again.

In November, four officers resigned leaving the police department with just two full-time and one part-time officer to patrol the streets.

But on Sunday, Chief Johnny Morris says two of three applicants showed up to be tested and interviewed, which resulted in the hiring of one-full time and one part-time officer.

Although both have a background in law enforcement, Morris says both will still need to undergo some additional training.

Morris is not releasing the names of the new hires but says the part-time officer will start on Friday and the full-time officer on January 17th.

The search continues to fill three full-time openings at the electra police department.
