Electra Police Chief Hopes to Return to Work Next Month

Electra Police Chief Johnny Morris hopes to be back on the job next month.
Electra Police Chief Johnny Morris hopes to be back on the job next month.

In September, Morris went on medical leave as city leaders attempted for the second time since June to remove him as police chief.

Since then, most of the police force and support staff left so now, sheriff's deputies are patrolling the streets and the sheriff's office dispatches calls.

Chief Morris tells us he is still undergoing physical therapy and expects to receive a clean bill of health to return to work in early January.

But Electra City Administrator Larry Pannell says Morris is allowed 12 weeks of medical leave.

That time should end before the first of the year.

We received no word on whether the city will continue it's push to terminate Chief Morris.
