The Electra police department is conducting background checks on several candidates to fill several openings on the force.
Earlier this month, four officers left the department leaving the Electra police force with just two full-time and one part time officer. According to Chief Johnny Morris a background check is being performed on two full-time and two part-time candidates.
The chief also says one of the part-time candidates used to work with the department a few years ago. Chief Morris expects to interview those candidates after Christmas and have all positions filled by the end of January.
