Family and Friends Gather for a Benefit for Cody Fry

Former City View High School student has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and c-diff and needs help to pay the medical bills.
Family members and friends gathered on Saturday at Scoot's to raise money for a former City View high school student.

Eighteen-year-old Cody Fry was diagnosed with a disease and a bacterial infection that affects the digestive system two years ago.

For Cody, who once loved playing sports and going to school with his friends, things right now are a little tough.

"He has ulcerative colitis and c-diff. We're just trying to gather money for their medical bills and their loss of income when they are not able to work," says Cody's aunt, Jennifer Bates.

He was diagnosed two years ago and his illness has changed his life drastically.

"It's taken me out of every sport that I played and I had to be home schooled," Cody says.

Family and friends came together at a benefit on Saturday to raise money for Cody's medical bills.

The benefit offered many ways to help out the family.

There were dinner plates for sale, there was an auction, a bake sale, and a poker run.

Cody's mom says she apprecaites all of the support during this tough time.

"It's hard as a parent to see your child go through something like this and there's nothing you can do about it," Cody's mom, Julie Ross, says.

Cody also said himself he was very thankful to see so many people coming out today to support he and his family.
