Fatal Fire Update

An early morning house fire in Wichita Falls results in the death of a 75-year-old man.
The fire sparked around 2:30 Friday morning, in the 1600 block of Garfield.

Heavy smoke and flames poured out of the home, and additional units had to be called in to put out the blaze.

After about four hours, fire fighters were able to douse the flames.

According to Sgt. Joe Snyder with Wichita Falls Police, the body of the 75-year-old male was found inside the home.

"We don't expect to discover any other persons inside," said Snyder, "At this time there are no signs of foul play and the body will be sent to Tarrant County for an autopsy."

Fire officials originally said the fire seemed suspicious, however Wichita Falls Fire Marshall David Collins later said at this time, there is no reason to suspect foul play.

The name of the man found inside has not been released, pending notification of family members.
