Fierce Competition at the Special Olympics in Archer City

The Special Olympics brings out the best in the competitors.
Few sporting events motivate an entire crowd to cheer for every athlete, but to be fair only a few athletes deserve it as much as those who took to the field today in Archer City.

Participants from several local schools ran, threw, and jumped their way through an entire day of events in hopes of getting a medal at the end of the day.

Those involved say, the competition brings out the best in the athletes, but seeing lifelong friendships built makes it all worth it.

"It's great all around. I think it's so cool to be a part of this. I think it is so cool to see the athletes compete and they really just give it their all, and it is so much fun,” said North Texas Area Director Amanda Awakuni.
