Filipino American Club of North Texas Celebrates Independence Day

The Filipino American Club of North Texas celebrated their heritage Saturday in Wichita Falls.
Its Flag Day today and one group in Wichita Falls is celebrating the flag of their ancestors' home country.

The Filipino American Club of North Texas observed their independence this afternoon at lake Wichita Park.

This was the first year that the club hosted this event.

There was live music, plenty of food, and dancing.

There was even some folk singing. But the meaning behind today is what made this celebration significant.

"One of the most significant events in history, it signifies the freedom from three-hundred years Spanish rule," Armando San Diego, Filipino American Club president said.

The actual holiday is June 12th but the Filipino American Club of North Texas chose to celebrate today so all club members could make it out.
