A wildfire began burning late Tuesday evening in Northern Wichita County. Sheriff David Duke says it started shortly before 8 p.m. in a wheat field at FM 1177 and Cooper Road, which is just North of Sheppard Air Force Base. Fire fighters from Friburg, Cooper, Burkburnett, Cameron Gardens, and crews from Wichita County Emergency Management were gaining the upper hand on this blaze. Between six and eight houses had to be evacuated, but most of those folks are being let back in to their homes. Sheriff Duke says lightning appears to have sparked this fire.
