First baby of the new year at United Regional

Some would say the greatest gift is a new bundle of joy and for one couple their bundle was the first of the new year at United Regional.

Some would say the greatest gift is a new bundle of joy and for one couple their bundle was the first of the new year at United Regional.

Lexi Garcia and Trey Law say they were just excited to find out the sex of their baby, since they decided not to find out during the pregnancy. But, they say when they found out their baby could be the first of the new year, it was like icing on the cake.

Lane Kaylynn Law, just six pounds and three ounces was born at 3:30 a.m Wednesday.

This is the couples first baby and they say they can't wait to go home and discover the many mysteries of parenting.

I don't know yet actually, I guess just the surprises that come along with being a new parent,” said Trey Law.

Learning to do things, trying to sleep when you can,” added Lexi Garcia.

The parents say hospital officials told them one family just missed having the New Year's baby and had theirs ten minutes too early.

When they heard that, the couple says they did their best to rush into surgery for the C-section.

Lexi will stay in the hospital for another two days recovering from the surgery before heading home with lane.
