Former Electra police Chief Johnny Morris has field a federal lawsuit against the City of Electra over his recent firing .
According to Morris' attorney, Nick O'Kelly, the lawsuit sites age discrimination in employment, violation of the Family Medical Leave Act and violation of the Texas Open Meetings Act.
Morris was fired on January 7th, at which time his attorney says he was still on medical leave.
And O'Kelly says while on medical leave Electra officials searched for and located a replacement police chief candidate who was significantly younger.
Morris is also challenging the validity of his termination on the grounds that the city failed to follow the Texas Open Meetings Act, as well as applicable provisions of the city charter.
