Former Montague Co. Deputy Testifies in Colorado Federal Court

Former Montague County Deputy, James Boyd, was in Colorado today, testifying in the sentencing phase of a women prosecutors say bought a gun for a parolee who shot Boyd nearly a year ago.

Boyd was in federal court in Denver testifying in the sentencing phase of a women prosecutors say bought a gun for a parolee who shot Boyd nearly a year ago.
That woman, 23 year old Stevie Virgil, was sentenced to 27 months in prison.
She pleaded guilty to buying a handgun for parolee, Evan Ebel, who used the weapon to fatally shoot Colorado's corrections chief, and a pizza delivery man then fled to North Texas where he used it to shoot Boyd.
That shooting happened on March 21, 2013 p.m. Highway 287 in Montague County after Boyd pulled over a vehicle driven by Ebel.
Ebel fired three shots at Boyd before speeding away.
He later died from injuries received during a shootout with law enforcement officials in Bowie.
Boyd now works for the Cooke County Sheriff's Office.
