Grant Martin is returning home to take over the Burkburnett baseball program.
A 1992 graduate of Burkburnett High School, Martin has coached at Abilene Wylie and most recently Vernon where he was named 2012 District 5-3A Coach of theYear.
On Tuesday it was announced he is the lone finalist for the coaching vacancy left open when Mike Leach retired earlier this month.
Martin's hiring is pending school board approval, but he is endorsed by both Principal Brad Owen and Athletic Director Danny Nix.
"We are very excited about Grant becoming our head baseball coach and assisting with our football staff. We know he will do a terrific job and bring a great enthusiasm to our baseball team," says Nix.
