Grant to Help Recruit CASA Volunteers

More local abused and neglected children will soon be able to be helped by a CASA, thanks to a grant from the Texas Bar Foundation.

More local abused and neglected children will soon be able to be helped by a CASA, thanks to a grant from the Texas Bar Foundation.

CASA of Red River applied for and accepted a $10,000 grant from the foundation.

The money will help with their volunteer recruitment campaign and will give them the resources to add 50 new CASA volunteers in Archer, Clay, Montague and Wichita counties.

And CASA officials say now is a great time to have the extra money because last year they did not have enough CASA volunteers for the number of kids in need

“Last year we served 324 but last year there were 647 kids that needed a CASA and we couldn't we can just serve what we have available and we don't want to have to not accept cases,” says Development Director Stephanie Gorham.
