Baylor County residents will soon have access to state-of-the-art cardiac rehabilitation much closer to home.
Seymour Hospital administrators, staff, representatives from McKinstry, a national energy and facility services firm and folks from the community broke ground on the wellness center Tuesday evening.
The plans will greatly expand the hospital and will include physical, occupational and cardiac therapy in one place.
Some of the upgrades include a therapy pool for patients, a dietary program as well as an aerobics room overlooking Seymour City Park.
Administrators say all all of the improvements are part of stage two of a three stage process that is all about speeding up their patient's recovery time.
Seymour Hospital CEO/ CFO Leslie Hardin says, "A facility like this, what it does it allows our patients, they are having major surgeries in other areas where they go to the larger cities, it allows them to come home, be in their hometown, be in their comfort zone where their friends and family can get to them."
All of the upgrades are scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.
