Square dancing is a long-time tradition in Texas, especially here in Texoma. One elementary school is keeping the tradition alive and well by incorporating it into their P.E. classes.

Students at Haynes Elementary have been practicing their "do si do" as part of their P.E. exercises.

Over the past couple of weeks they've learned the dances to several songs. Students split into groups and dance with their partners.

Their teachers say this is a great way to learn how to work together as a team as well as get the heart rate up at the same time.

And if these kids make it seem easy, it's because to them...

"It wasn't very hard because I new some of them already. But it still took me a while to get used to it," one student said.

"It wasn't that hard," another student explained.

In all, the students learned dances to five different songs. While some of the students say they don't see the reason why they're learning to square dance, in a few years, they will be happy they did.
