Hernandez to Spend 99 Years Behind Bars for CashMax Robbery

Ernest Phillip Hernandez pleaded guilty to the aggravated robbery of the CashMax store in the 31-hundred block of Kemp last May.
A verdict is reached in the trial of the man who pleaded guilty to the aggravated robbery of the Wichita Falls CashMax store last year.
Thirty-seven year-old Ernest Hernandez will spend 99 years in prison for the crime.
He'll also have to pay a $5-thousand fine.
Prosecutors were pushing for life in prison because they say when police executed a search warrant on Hernandez's home after the CashMax robbery, they found evidence linking him to other robberies in the city.
One of those, they say, is the Christie's Toy Box robbery from June 15 of last year.
Hernandez hasn't been charged for that crime, but prosecutors say police found the money bag that was stolen during that robbery hidden under Hernandez's bed.
Prosecutors also say Hernandez was the get-away driver for Abbott Uranga during the aggravated robbery of the Quick-and- Easy Pawn Shop on Kemp in May of last year.
During that robbery, police say gunshots were exchanged between Uranga and the pawn shop owner.
But Hernandez's defense attorney says his client didn't know Uranga was going to rob the shop when he dropped him off there.
Hernandez is charged with aggravated robbery in that crime, but he hasn't gone to trial on that charge.
It took the jury two hours to decide punishment.
During closing arguments, prosecutors asked jurors to give Hernandez life behind bars because of his history of violent behavior and committing crimes.
His lengthy criminal record dates back to the early 1990s, and includes burglaries, aggravated robbery, theft and assault.
He was sentenced to prison in 2000, paroled in 2005, and received state jail time in 2009.
