Holiday Travel Expected to be Rough

Millions of Americans will drive, fly or take the train to their holiday get away today. It's one of the busiest travel days of the year.
(NBC News) A barrage of snow and ice and even the threat of powerful tornadoes could result in a holiday travel nightmare for people journeying to see family and friends before Christmas.

The loaded weekend forecast also includes a blast of balmy temperatures for the East Coast: 60 cities from Florida to New York City could see record highs Sunday, according to the Weather Channel.

Chicago and Detroit were already experiencing icy conditions early Friday, and a band of light snow hitting parts of the central Great Plains and western Great Lakes is set to increase over the weekend, dumping up to 10 inches of snow on Kansas City and Milwaukee.
