Houston Mourns Fallen Firefighters

Neighbors rally around crews of four firefighters killed in massive Houston blaze.

(KPRC)  A Houston, Texas community mourning the loss of their neighbors at Fire Station 51 and Fire Station 68 tied bows around trees in front of the stations Monday to remember Captain Matthew Renaud, Engineer Operator Robert Bebee, fire fighter Robert Garner, and the youngest fire fighter Anne Sullivan.

The four responded to Friday's massive fire at the Southwest Inn.

Investigators say they died as a result of part of the building collapsing on top of them.

"We're not going to do anything for our brothers that we wouldn't do for civilians but there just seems to be a little bit more of an adrenaline rush when you know it's one of ours," said Chief Robert Branch.

He oversees the Houston fire department's rescue team made up of 60 firefighters with specialized training. Six of his rescuers were injured in the fire.

Two of them went in to save a firefighter trapped inside. All three made it out alive and are still in the hospital.
