Humane Society Lands $10K Grant

Workers at Alcoa Howmet in Wichita Falls rolled up their sleeves for a work day and big check presentation at the Humane Society of Wichita County Saturday.
The Humane Society of Wichita County got some much needed help today thanks to Alcoa Howmet.

The Wichita Falls Alcoa Howmet team awarded the humane society a $10 thousand grant today.

The company is using the month of October as a month of service, so team members spent their morning sprucing up dog kennels at the humane society with new coats of paint.

Humane society volunteers say they are thankful to company employees for giving their money and time to them.

Liz Vernon, who's with the humane society, says, "We are just so extremely grateful. We depend on the care and generosity of people in the community and we just appreciate it so much. It comes at a good time."

Iowa Park High School student council members spent part of their Saturday morning volunteering at the humane society, too.
