Hyundai and Kia Vehicles being Recalled

Automakers Hyundai and Kia are recalling nearly 2 million vehicles due to problems with air bags and brake lights.

Automakers Hyundai and Kia are recalling nearly 2 million vehicles due to problems with air bags and brake lights. The recall impacts 1.9 million, 2007 through 2011 model year Hyundai Accent, Elantra, Genesis Coupe, Santa Fe, Sonata, Tucson and Veracruz and Kia's Optima, Rondo, Sorento, Soul and Sportage.

U.S. safety regulators say the vehicles' cruise control may not turn off when the brake is pressed and a faulty switch can prevent the vehicle's brake lights from illuminating.

Also recalled is 2011 through 2013 model year Hyundai Elantras because a bracket can come loose when the side air bag inflates, which could hurt people. Both automakers say they will notify owners of affected cars by mail and make needed repairs for free.
