For the first time in years ... Iowa Park *could* get new apartments.
Wichita County commissioners and the city of Iowa Park have already both approved resolutions of support for the housing development to apply for some federal and state funding.  It's a joint venture between Nortex and a property management group out of San Antonio.
The proposed apartment complex would be at the southeast access road Highway 287 and Karen Lane --just outside the city limits.
Iowa Park's Economic Development Director, David Owen, says those overseeing the project plans to petition the city to be annexed, if everything goes forward.
"Anytime you can get new, additional rooftops in a community, with that company investing several million dollars, is going to be a big deal."
Owen says this would be a 72- unit, mixed-income complex.
He says it's been a long time since Iowa Park got new apartments ... and he says he's excited about this possibility.
