Police say a long vacant downtown Wichita Falls building is broken into for it's copper wiring, but they caught the thief in the act.

36-year-old Marcus Benner of Iowa Park is charged with burglary of a building along with theft of copper wire and evading arrest.

Police say it happened around 8:30 a.m. Friday, in the 1000 block of Scott Avenue.

They say the owner of the old Sears building heard someone inside and later officers saw him threw a window near a large pile of wires.

Benner then spotted the police and took off running out of the building.

Police later caught him and detained him.
