MSU improved to 19-9 on the season while claiming fifth consecutive win and ninth in the last 10 games. The Mustangs also kept pace with Angelo State at the top of the LSC standings with a 7-1 mark.

Midwestern State closes weekend play with a single game against No. 1-ranked West Texas A&M Saturday night at Mustangs Park. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.

Jerrick's 10th homer of the season came with two outs and one on in the second inning to center field which gave the Mustangs their first lead of the game at 3-2.

She needs six more to match former West Texas A&M standout Kim LeComte, who hit 56 homers from 2009-12.

Eastern New Mexico took advantage of a pair of MSU fielding miscues to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

ENMU starter Rebecca Long walked four consecutive batters in the bottom of the frame to give the Mustangs their first run of the game. The junior outfielder/pitcher, who was making her first appearance of the season in the circle matched a school single-game record by issuing 11 free passes while allowing five earned runs on five hits to fall to 0-1.

The Zias tied the game with a run in the third inning before Midwestern moved ahead courtesy of an unearned run in the third inning.

Junior shortstop Katy Vandewater roped a two-run double down the right-field line to plate MSU's final two runs in the sixth inning.

MSU starter Erin Knox claimed her second-straight decision to improve to 9-2 on the season. The right-hander from West allowed two earned runs on two hits in seven innings with three strikeouts and two walks.

Vandewater's double in the sixth extended her current team-best hitting streak to five games.

In other LSC Showcase action Friday, Cameron defeated West Texas A&M 9-8 with a nine-run rally in the bottom of the seventh, while Texas A&M-Kingsville defeated Tarleton State 4-1 and Angelo State came back to defeat Texas Woman's 8-7 in eight innings.

The LSC Showcase concludes Saturday with Texas Woman's taking on Texas A&M-Kingsville at 10 a.m., Cameron facing Eastern New Mexico at 12:30 p.m. and Tarleton State battling Angelo State at 3 p.m.
