"Jesus Stomp" Draws Fire

College students angered after being told to stop on paper bearing Jesus' name.

(WPTV)  A campaign to get Florida Atlantic University professor Deandre Poole fired is growing.

From Florida to California, the call is for Poole to be dismissed over a controversial class assignment, many call shameful and insensitive.

Poole asked students to write "Jesus" on a piece of paper, put it on the floor and step on it.

On the petition one person writes, "Florida Atlantic University needs a good house cleaning. Starting, but not ending, with firing Deandre Poole."

Church of All Nations Pastor Mark Boykin is one of the most outspoken.

"They wouldn't have done that to Abraham Lincoln. This is absolutely absurd, he should be fired," says Rev. Boykin.

School officials will not discuss what, if any, action will be taken against Poole, claiming it's a personnel matter. But Florida Governor Rick Scott is demanding answers on how it was handled by school leaders.
