A bug with a deadly bite known as the Kissing Bug has made its way to Texoma.
David Shoop with Shoop's Texas Termite and Pest says they've confirmed at least seven Kissing Bugs over the last 48 hours.
Shoop says the bugs have been found in parts of Wichita and Wilbarger counties.
The bug carries a parasite known as Trypanosoma Cruzi that causes Chagas disease which can cause cardiac arrest, paralysis and intestinal problems.
Shoop says, "The risk of somebody actually contracting Chagas from a Kissing Bug is very very low. The fear has been overwhelming from people that have been calling but like I said, it's not anything to be panicked about."
Shoop says they'll start testing the bugs for Chagas next week.
He encourages folks to wear Deet.
Shoop says if you fear that you've been bit by a Kissing Bug, don't scratch it and wash the affected area immediately.
