While the city looks into alternative water sources, one group is trying to move forward with plans to return one lake to its days as a center of entertainment and recreation, when we do get rain.

The Lake Wichita Study Committee met with the Corp of Engineers last month to lay out their long term plan for the lake.

And they are now working on securing the funds they need to turn their plans into reality.

So far they have secured about 20 thousand dollars in private funds, they will need about 40 million.

Those plans include a wake boarding park, water playground, a retail park,  kayak courses,  and extensions of the trail.

The funding estimate also includes dredging.
