Lawton Enacts Stage 3 Restrictions

Lawton Enacts Stage 3 Restrictions

Lawton reservoirs hit below 50 percent causing stage 3 water restrictions.
Lawton is enacting stronger water restrictions as combined lake levels at Lakes Lawtonka, Ellsworth and Waurkita hit less than 50 percent.

The city is now in stage 3, meaning outside watering is now limited to midnight and 9 a.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays until Halloween.

From November 1 to February 29, outside water use will be allowed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

This is the first time ever Lawton has been in stage 3.

In March, Lawton officials pulled the trigger enacting stage 2 water restrictions. That was the first time Lawton enacted any kind of mandatory restrictions.

At that time, Lawton reservoirs were holding steady at around 60%. Today, they stand at 49.56%.
