Authorities say Wednesday night's severe weather caused an 18-wheeler to burst into flames on Highway 287.

It happened just after midnight on 287 south bound, one mile north of Jolly.

Clay County Sheriff's deputies said the driver told authorities lightning struck the truck, engulfing it in flames.

The south bound part of the highway was shut down for about an hour as fire fighters put out the blaze. The trailers were salvaged but the truck was burned to the ground.

No one was injured.
