A new article hitting national magazine stands is creating a stir in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Vanity Fair published an article about the August killing of Christopher Lane, the Australian baseball player that was shot by two teenagers .

The article was written by Buzz Bissinger, who wrote "Friday Night Lights."

Despite reports the teens were simply bored, he raises questions about whether it was a gang- related shooting.

In an interview about the article, Bissinger described Duncan as "kind of soulless," with a "Main Street that serves no purpose anymore. He also published letter two defendants wrote to family members from jail.

In comments made to the Duncan Banner, Mayor Gene Brown and District Attorney Jason Hicks spoke out against the article, saying it's unfair and that the city has more positives then negatives.
