Man Charged with Murder in Marconi St. Shooting

Twenty-nine year-old Jake Edward Jones is charged with murder.

Police say a 62-year-old man is dead after an afternoon shooting in Wichita Falls and a 29-year-old man is jailed on a $1 million bond in his death.

Jake Edward Jones is charged with murder.

He's being held in the Wichita County Jail.

Officers were called out to a home in the 700-block of Marconi St. around 3:30 p.m.

According to police, 62-year-old Billy Jones received a single gun shot wound to the back and was unresponsive on scene.

He was taken to United Regional Hospital to be treated but died a short time later.

Police say Jake and Billy lived in the home together.

This is Wichita Falls' fourth murder of 2013.

In March, Jake Jones was arrested for shooting two people at a Wichita Falls bar located in the 400 block of North Scott Ave.

In January 2009, he was arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police say he is a known gang member.
