Mardi Gras Celebration Brings in Tourism to Nocona

Attendees celebrate the last day of this year's festivities.
A little bit of New Orleans made its way to Montague County as the community of Nocona celebrated Mardi Gras.

Hundreds gathered in downtown Nocona where organizers spared no detail in making this Texas town seem like the center of Cajun culture.

A parade, jazz music, and plenty of food brought people out from all over the area, including some from outside of Texoma.

Ann Harris said of her experience, "This is my second time and I will tell you that my first time was not like any other, but the second time is like amazing."

"Both of my friends are from Louisiana, so they left Louisiana to come here to participate in the Nocona, Texas Mardi Gras and they're loving it!" said attendee Donna Culpepper.

They say the comradery of Nocona mixed with the Mardi Gras spirit keeps bringing them back year after year, a tradition they plan to keep for next year's festivities.
