After decades of serving Wichita Falls and 4 years on city council, one member is stepping down from her position.

Tuesday was district 5 councilor Mary Ward's last city council meeting.

Ward was first elected in 2010 and was re-elected in 2012. She did fulfill her full term.

She says she will miss being on council because she thinks it's important that citizens take an active roll in the community.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed being on the council, i think it's important people in Wichita Falls get involved and instead of fussing all the time, see what they can help, so i have really enjoyed my time on the council.

Ward worked for a variety of charities in Wichita Falls before taking a seat on the council.

Tom Quintero will be taking her seat he was the only one who filed for the  position.
