(KARE) A Minnesota school district that was the site of a school shooting several years ago now has a new device designed to help keep students safe: Bulletproof whiteboards.
The Rocori School District is the first in the state to get bulletproof whiteboards.
They're a small "marker-friendly" board made of some of the lightest body armor in the world.
The inventor created it in response to the Newtown, Connecticut shooting.
"We set it up making something that would fit into the school environment because my kids were scared and their teachers were scared," says George Tunis of Hardwire LLC.
