A change at Municipal Airport will soon pave the way for more efficient air travel to take off.

American Airlines is not renewing its lease on the turboprop aircraft that's been in use since 2008.

It will be replaced with the ERU-145 Jet.

Airport managers say the new jet will fly at a higher altitude and provide a much smoother ride.

They also say because it's bigger it can handle more carry-on baggage.

"You'll be able to take on an addition carry-on. Before you could only take on one carry on and no personal item. So, now you'll be able to take your personal item with your carry-on," says Director of Airports LeAnn Moran.

The last turboprop will fly out of Wichita Falls Monday night and the new ERJ-145 Jet will fly in Tuesday morning.
