After 50 years of teaching harmonious tunes to students. An MSU professor is playing his final note at the school.
While more than 700 students turned their tassels last week, Norval Crews was also saying one final goodbye.
Crews has taught music for more than five decades, and 43 of those years at MSU.
He first joined the university as a band director and later worked as the director for the jazz and athletic bands.
He also taught music education.
But crews says looking back at all those years he's never considered it a job.
"I always tell people I really haven't worked hardly in my life since I was in college really I have always basically enjoyed what I have done teaching music it's been a nice ride," said Crews.
Though he'll be out of the classroom, it doesn't mean he will stop teaching and playing music.
He says he's going to continue to instructing private lessons.
And he and his wife will still perform for functions around the community.
