Despite detailed talks with Central Missouri, MSU men's basketball coach Nelson Haggerty is staying in Wichita Falls.

Haggerty served as an assistant on two Elite Eight team at Central Missouri before coming to Midwestern State as an assistant under Grant McCasland. Haggerty took over three years ago as the Mustangs head coach and has guided the Mustangs to 75 wins. 

Central Missouri's job recently became available when Kim Anderson and his top assistant took the same jobs at the University of Missouri. This after the Mules won the D-II National Championship.

In today's press conference, Haggerty spoke of a bright future for the MSU basketball program but specified appreciation for his efforts, the entire MSU coaching staff and a community where he can raise his family as the keys to him remaining in Wichita Falls.
