The North Texas Area United Way is about to have a new chief executive officer.

Interviews were conducted by four board members and Greg Shannon has accepted the position.

His start date is set for Monday, July 22nd.

Shannon's served as Minister/Corps Officer at the Salvation Army in Wichita Falls since last July and he will fill the position left vacant by Diana Phillips.

Phillips resigned her position in March, after announcing a $200,000 shortfall in their fundraising campaign and a budget deficit of $203,000.

The board of directors then extended their campaign through May 1st and met their goal.

The United Way helps fund about 12 local programs, like the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls, the Kitchen and the Wichita Adult Literacy Council.
