Electra's newest full time police officer is officially on the job.

Officer Christopher Ray Barnett was sworn in during today's Electra City Commission meeting, which started at 5:30.

Barnett joined the force from the Ellis County Sheriff's Office where he worked as a jailer.

He grew up in Wichita Falls and is a 2009 Rider High School graduate.

Late last year, the Electra Police Department was down four officers but now, Chief Johnny Morris says once he hires one more full-time officer, the force will be fully staffed again.
