New Grand Hotel Not Open By Date Promised

The New Grand Hotel is still not open, after claiming they would be open by July 27th.
The New Grand Hotel in Wichita Falls was supposed to open Sunday, that's according to what company officials have been saying, and what the recorded phone message has said for several weeks.

Even though we got that same recording Monday, the hotel remains closed. However, when we did get someone to answer, she told us the re-opening will now be sometime in August.

When you call the hotel and get the voicemail, it says that the hotel is under renovations, and they are planning on reopening and taking reservations starting July the 27th.

A few months ago, hotel officials said they'd be open by mid-July, long before the Hotter 'N Hell riders who've pre-paid to stay there will arrive.

City officials say they've sent the hotel owners a letter explaining they have yet to apply for any permits to reopen with the city and health department.

We went back to the hotel today and nothing seems to have changed since early last week.

The roof, which the health department says must be repaired, was leaking,  with buckets catching the drops.

In numerous visits, we have not seen any work going on at the hotel, which lost its lodging permit last year.

After a second call today we actually spoke with someone at the hotel and were told now that they would be opening sometime in August, but the city still has no applications for an inspection on record.
