New Smoke-Free Billboards are Popping Up All Over Wichita Falls

The Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District received two grants that funded several new billboards going up throughout Wichita County.
You may have seen some new billboards popping up around Wichita County.

Now that Wichita Falls is smoke-free, the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District is doing everything they can to get the word out.

The health district received two separate grants to fund the project, those are the Transforming Texas grant and the Tobacco Prevention and Control Coalition.

There are currently nine billboards up making residents aware of the smoke-free ordinance and also sending tobacco-free messages.

Also, several of the billboards emphasize smoke-free playgrounds, and officials say this is something they want visitors to really enjoy when they visit Wichita Falls.

"I mean those kids are there to have a good time and to play and we certainly want our visitors to have a good time and not have to worry about their kids playing in a playground with lots of smoke around," Lindsay Greer, with the Convention and Visitors Bureau, says.

Health department officials say they do have plans to put up more billboards along with continuing media messages.
