Wichita Falls city councilors held a special meeting this morning to canvass votes from Saturday's municipal election.

Once they finished, newly elected council members were sworn- in.

Michael Smith, Annetta Pope-Dotson and Ben Hoover each took their oath of office.

Pope-Dotson was re-elected to serve a second term as District 2 councilor.

Michael Smith was elected to the Councilor-At-Large seat.

The District 1 seat vacated by Smith is now held by attorney Ben Hoover, who says he's ready to serve the public.

"I campaigned on that promise that I want people to feel free to contact me and talk to me about their concerns and that's what a councilor should do. You should be able to listen to what the people want, what do they expect for their councilor on every decision to be made," says Hoover.

Following the swearing in ceremony, the council immediately got to work by addressing several issues.
