Nocona Councilors to Look at Alcohol Petition

Nocona city councilors will review a petition to allow liquor by the drink at restaurants at their next meeting.
Restaurants in Nocona could be able to sell alcohol soon.

Right now, beer and wine can be sold in convenience stores and at liquor stores, but restaurants are limited on what they can offer customers.

The current law states only private clubs can sell alcohol.

That means restaurants that haven't gone through the private club licensing process can't sell alcohol.

A petition to allow alcohol and mixed drink sales in restaurants, also called liquor by the drink, was turned into the city clerk in September.

Organizers needed 219 signatures and gathered 251.

Nocona city councilors will review it at their meeting Tuesday evening.
