Wichita County and Wichita Falls officials are taking time to recognize the efforts of the people contacted first in a time of crisis.
This week is National Public Safety Telecommunications week.
The week honors the "first" first responders, who provide critical service to the community.
In a press briefing, Lieutenant Joseph Puddu said, dispatchers are the first people we hear in a time of crisis and are the voice of the victim to firefighters.
“Now it's time that we take to thank our communicators for the work they do and the jobs they do protecting us and serving the public,” he said.
Saturday dispatchers and their families will receive a party in their honor.
Awards will also be given at the ceremony.
