Unemployment in Oklahoma is on the rise from September.
Statewide, unemployment inched up slightly to 5.3% in October. A year ago, the rate was 6.3% in Texoma counties, unemployment rose at a higher rate last month than the state average.
Comanche County has the 8th highest rate of the 77 counties, 7 percent, up from 6.6% in September, but down from a year ago. Jefferson County's rate is 5.4%, down substantially from a year ago and Tillman County's rate is down below 5 percent.
Jackson County has a 4.6% rate while Cotton and Stephens both had 4.4.% rates for October.
