Oklahomans Enjoy Tax Free Weekend

This weekend Oklahomans all over the state enjoyed tax free weekend as they shopped for school supplies and back to school clothes.
August has arrived, which means it's almost time for school to start and parents all over Oklahoma started their back to school shopping this weekend.

It's tax free weekend in Oklahoma, which means it's the perfect time to buy all of your school supplies and clothes for the school year.

During this tax free weekend shoppers are able to purchase shoes, clothing and school supplies, all free of sales tax.

"From yesterday when we actually started the tax free weekend we've been busy from 8 o'clock until we actually close," Target store manager William Paul says.

Shortly after midnight on Friday, shoppers all over Oklahoma started packing the stores for the statewide tax-free weekend.

"Free taxes! You know we gotta save our money," Norma Pilgrim from Duncan says.

Pilgrim spent the weekend stocking up on school supplies for her daughter Jillian.

"It's crowded, but it's not as crowded as I thought it was going to be. But this is only our second store," Pilgrim says.

This shopping holiday gives shoppers the opportunity to buy clothing, shoes and school supplies, all tax free.

And now that August has arrived what better time to start stocking up on all of those needed back to school items.

"You know always need paper, pens, products like that. Kids are coming in looking for coloring, crayons, markers and things like that," Paul says.

People spent the weekend hopping from store to store just to get all of the best back to school deals.

Shoppers say although the lines are long this is a weekend that you can't miss.

"We saved a lot, almost half on all of the clothes over there, it was pretty good," Carol Doyebi from Anadarko says.

As school is approaching shoppers say every penny you can save on tax-free weekend is worth it.

Next weekend is tax-free weekend in Texas.
