Officials say the woman managed to open the front door, but as the officer tried to get her out they were approached by Johnston. They say he was armed with a gun.

Officials say Officer Nelson shot the man one time in the torso.

Police say neither the woman nor Officer Nelson were injured in the incident. The officer remains on administrative leave, which is department procedure.
