Sheriff David Duke has identified the victim as 33 year old Carmelo Ponce the 3rd seen here from an arrest two months ago on a drug and credit card abuse charge. Duke says since 2005, Ponce has been arrested 16 times in Wichita County. But now, He's the alleged victim of a shooting.

Wichita County authorities believe Ponce was shot outside the Allsups in Electra during some type of disagreement. Deputies were called to the hospital in Electra just before 3 am yesterday. They say ponce was taken there by a private vehicle with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and underwent surgery. Although his condition is unknown... Sheriff duke says Ponce continues to be uncooperative with investigators. However, Duke says investigators are pursuing several other leads to determine the motive of the shooting.
