Police Investigate Gun Shots, Man Detained

A man is taken in for a mental evaluation after Wichita Falls police respond to reports of gunshots Monday morning at a Wichita Falls apartment complex.
Just after 4:00 A.M. Monday morning, Wichita Falls Police were called to the Stone Creek Ranch apartment complex in the 5000 block of Taft.
Police say a man, who has been detained, called police and told them he fired two shots through his apartment door.
Officials say the man went to a neighbor's apartment where a woman talked him into putting the weapon down and meeting officers outside.
The man told officers he believed his adult son was still inside the apartment and might be held by a different gunman.
Police say several neighboring apartments were evacuated and SWAT and crisis negotiators were called in.
Around 6:20 A.M., police say the man's son told officers he was not inside the apartment, and that he did not know why the man who have made the story up.
SWAT members entered and found no one to be inside the the apartment.
Residents were allowed to return home just before 7 A.M.
The man detained was taken to the Wichita Falls State Hospital for evaluation.
