Police Ready for New Year

The new year is upon us and Wichita Falls police say they are ready for a busy night as folks ring in the new year.

The new year is upon us and Wichita Falls police say they are ready for a busy night as folks ring in the new year.

Police say they plan to run a full crew.

While they want you to enjoy your evening, they also want you to be safe and you can do that with preparation.

What we want is people to make good decisions. And if you are going to be out celebrating tonight, to have a plan in place,” said Sgt. John Spragins, from the Wichita Falls Police Department.

Police say if you are drinking and driving and get pulled over they will test your blood alcohol level.

They'll ask for a blood sample first, but if you refuse, they will get the on call judge to sign a warrant for them to draw your blood for a sample.

You can avoid drinking and driving by not driving at all.

Skylark Taxi service is offering free cab rides.

Those rides will only be offered for people going from an establishment serving alcohol to their home.

The rides will be provided from 11:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

For a ride you can call 322-1352.
