Prosecution Rests Case in Balthrop Sexual Assault Trial

Former Stephens County Deputy Brandon Balthrop is accused of assaulting women while he was on duty.
Two trials in Stephens County:  one dealing with a murder, the other involves a former Stephens County Deputy who's charged with sexually assaulting several women.
The prosecution today rested its case against Brandon Balthrop who is accused of assaulting the women while he was on duty.
Jurors heard today from OSBI Agent Robert Williams who conducted the investigation into the alleged sex abuse.

This morning, one of Balthrop's recorded interviews with Agent Williams was played for jurors, about the traffic stop involving one of the four women.  In the interview Balthrop told Agent Williams that he never assaulted the alleged victim or even laid a hand on her.  He claimed the woman's allegations were made because she was mad at being pulled over and accused of drinking and driving.
Balthrop's lawyer questioned Williams' investigation and whether the dispatch radio logs backed up prosecutors' version of the events.
